Test This guide explains how to sign in to S.A.M, check your signs, upload an image, preview it, and schedule when it appears.
Before you begin
You need:
- Access to the email connected to your S.A.M account
- Google Chrome or another modern browser
- An image to display
- An internet connection
For landscape screens, create content at 1920 x 1080 pixels.
1. Sign in
Go to RunSam.com.
Enter your email address and password to sign in.
If you do not have a password:
- Select Forgot Password.
- Enter the email associated with your account.
- Open the reset email.
- Create a secure password.
- Return to RunSam.com and sign in.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder and confirm that you entered the correct address.
Screenshot pending: sam-login-page.png should show the RunSam.com login page, including the login form and Forgot Password link.
Screenshot pending: sam-forgot-password-form.png should show the email field and password-reset submission button.
2. Check your signs
After signing in, locate the devices assigned to your account.
An online status means the sign is connected to S.A.M. An offline sign may require a power, internet, or media-player check.
Use clear device names such as Main Lobby, East Entrance, or Reception so each sign is easy to identify.
Screenshot pending: sam-device-status.png should show the device list, device names, and online or offline indicators.
3. Open a layout
A layout controls what appears on one or more signs.
- Open Layouts.
- Find the layout assigned to the signs you want to update.
- Select the layout.
Before editing, confirm which signs are connected to it. Updating one layout may affect several signs.
Screenshot pending: sam-layouts-navigation.png should show the Layouts option in the main navigation.
Screenshot pending: sam-layout-list.png should show the layout list and highlight the layout to open.
4. Upload an image
Inside the layout:
- Select + Content.
- Open the content-type menu.
- Choose Upload Images.
- Select Your Device.
- Choose an image from your computer.
- Select Open.
- Select the green Save button.
The image will appear in the layout’s content list.
Screenshot pending: sam-add-content-button.png should show the open layout and highlight the + Content button.
Screenshot pending: sam-upload-images-content-type.png should show the content-type menu with Upload Images selected.
Screenshot pending: sam-save-uploaded-image.png should show the selected image and green Save button.
5. Arrange or remove content
To change the playback order, drag an item to the desired position and save the layout.
To remove default content:
- Select the unwanted item.
- Choose Delete Selected.
- Confirm the deletion.
- Save the layout.
Screenshot pending: sam-reorder-layout-content.png should show multiple items, the drag direction, and the layout Save button.
Screenshot pending: sam-delete-selected-content.png should show a selected item and the Delete Selected button.
6. Rename content
Use clear names so content is easy to find later.
- Select the item’s Config or wrench icon.
- Change the name.
- Select Save.
Examples include Weekend Event, Safety Reminder, or Lobby Welcome.
Renaming an item does not add visible text to the image.
Screenshot pending: sam-rename-content-item.png should show the content-name field and Save button.
7. Choose Stretch or Scale
Stretch fills the entire content area but may distort an image.
Scale keeps the image’s original proportions but may leave blank space.
For the best result, match the content orientation to the screen:
- Landscape: 1920 x 1080
- Portrait: 1080 x 1920
Screenshot pending: sam-stretch-scale-controls.png should show the Stretch and Scale controls and the currently selected option.
8. Preview the layout
- Save your changes.
- Select Preview.
- Check the content order, readability, cropping, and image proportions.
- Return to the editor if changes are needed.
Screenshot pending: sam-layout-preview.png should show the Preview button and the rendered layout.
9. Schedule content
To control when an item appears:
- Open the item’s Config.
- Open Schedule.
- Set the start and end dates.
- Set the start and end times.
- Select the days of the week.
- Save the schedule and layout.
Check the sign’s time zone when exact timing is important.
Screenshot pending: sam-schedule-settings.png should show the date fields, time fields, weekday options, and Save button.
10. Confirm the update
Allow time for the sign to download the updated layout.
If the content does not appear:
- Confirm that the layout was saved.
- Confirm that the correct signs use the layout.
- Check that the signs are online.
- Review the content schedule.
- Confirm that the current date and time are included.
When remote screenshots are enabled, use them to confirm what is playing without visiting the location.
Screenshot pending: sam-remote-screen-preview.png should show a recent device screenshot and its timestamp.
Creating content
Canva and PowerPoint work well for creating digital-signage images.
In Canva, create a custom design at 1920 x 1080 pixels.
In PowerPoint, use Widescreen 16:9 and export the slide as PNG or JPEG.
Keep text large, use strong contrast, avoid overcrowding, and keep important content away from the edges.
